Sustainable development trends in manufacturing process of PVC products

01/12/2016

Representation of Ltd. TPC Vina Plastic and Chemicals - specializes in producing PVC powder products said: Currently in the world, there are two PVC production technology: petroleum (ethylene) and coal (acetylene). In particular, a PVC production technology, which uses acetylene as raw materials used mercury as a kind of additive. Despite technological process is guaranteed optimal mercury, but is still a metal toxin potentially harmful to human health and adversely affect the quality of the environment. During the life cycle of plastic products which has mercury from production to disposal, it is very difficult to avoid leakage of emissions and to significant consequences. Therefore, many countries around the world, especially in developed economies countries, they were gradually replaced or converted entirely raw materials: from acetylene to ethylene.

In 1995, the Plastics and Chemicals Corporation (TPC VINA) was established as a joint venture company with its headquarters located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. TPC Vina is a pioneer in the petrochemical industry in Vietnam. Today, TPC Vina has a PVC resin factory which used the modernest technology in Vietnam with a total investment of 115 million USD.

In addition, earlier pipes commonly used PVC stabilizer lead (Pb) to prevent the thermal degradation of PVC during processing. Many research and testing has proven safe Pb stabilizers used in drinking water lead pipes. However, with today's advanced technology, stable quality is being replaced with Pb stabilizer derived carbon, calcium (Ca), zinc (Zn) stabilizers or organic origin, safer during the production and consumption of the product.

Zinc is an essential element for living activities and human health, without any risk of harm when used zinc stearate heat stabilizer in PVC on human health and the environment. So zinc stabilizers as Ca/Zn when combined with stable isotopes has been tested and confirmed the low toxicity or nontoxic. Salt Ca/Zn of any acids in the list of regulations on the EU additives is approved for use as packaging for packaging, are allowed direct contact with food.

Currently, even though our country as well as many countries in the ASEAN community still allows the use of Pb in producing PVC but the developed countries in the world such as Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea,... completely banned full and replaced with friendly stabilizer human health and the environment. This is also the trend of sustainable development in the future that the plastic pipe manufacturer is looking forward to the ASEAN region.

Last June, a workshop on sustainable development of PVC was organized by the Council of the Southeast Asian countries specialize in producing vinyl (AVC) was held in Hanoi aims to help managers and business Industry and consumers to raise awareness about the PVC is produced from oil and stabilizer muscles promised, contribute to protecting human health and limit the adverse effects on the environment.
