Ho Chi Minh City is gradually implementing activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy and resource efficiency.
To respond to climate change, protect the environment and prevent natural disasters, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has issued an action plan to respond to climate change for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 in the area.

Photo: Nguyen Chau Ho Chi Minh City has set a target of reducing emissions by 10% by 2030 and moving towards a low-carbon economy, sustainable development or 30% emission reduction with international support. Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City will integrate priority mitigation and adaptation actions into city and sectoral planning, actively implementing Vietnam's commitments with the international community to respond to climate change, international cooperation and development and call for support and investment.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City will actively promote international cooperation mechanisms to promote exchange of experiences, investment cooperation and implementation of activities to respond to climate change. In addition, Ho Chi Minh City will continue to improve mechanisms and policies, create a favorable legal framework to receive resources for projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, recover emissions and support projects, strengthen the capacity to adapt to the impacts of climate change for vulnerable areas.
Recently, the city has issued "Plan to implement the Paris Agreement on climate change in Ho Chi Minh City". One of the solutions set out in this agreement is to strengthen cooperation with international organizations to enlist help and support.
Ho Chi Minh City will create favorable conditions for businesses to participate in trade exchanges and investment promotion with countries around the world in technology transfer, human resource development for projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, emission recovery and projects to support capacity building to adapt to the impacts of climate change.
Ho Chi Minh City will continue to strengthen domestic and foreign cooperation, public-private partnership (PPP) to mobilize more strongly and effectively all investment resources, promote socialization to reduce pollution and habitat degradation, a transition to a circular economy is needed. This transformation is a great opportunity for sustainable development, it not only achieves socio-economic and environmental goals but also can effectively respond to climate change. The conversion also help to raise people's awareness about reusing and recycling of waste, limiting the consumption of unnecessary single-use items.
“To reduce emissions, we can integrate the project into the city's public programs such as shopping for green consumption, planting trees. In addition, many agricultural production sites now follow an ecological model, which in addition to creating clean products can also help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
