Work begins on Dam Nai wind farm in Ninh Thuan province

The farm covers 9.6 hectares on the two communes of Tan Hai and Phuong Hai in Ninh Hai district, and Bac Phong commune of Thuan Bac district, and costs a total of US$80 million.

TSV Chairman Do Van Dien said the project will use turbines produced by Gamesa, each of which has could generate 2.625 megawatts. This type of turbine has a diameter of 114 metres, making it the largest type ever installed in Vietnam.

The turbines are expected to be delivered to Vietnam in August this year.

The first phase of the project is scheduled for completion in October this year, with three turbines, while the second phase will be completed in October 2018 when an additional 13 turbines will be installed.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony on April 28, Ninh Thuan Chairman Luu Xuan Vinh asked the two contractors to take necessary steps to make sure the construction conditions are safe and the project meets quality standards.

He also urged local authorities to create all favourable conditions within the framework of law to facilitate project construction and operation.
