In the future, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province will attract investment selectively, focusing on the development of supporting industries and industrial development with modern technologies.
In order to promote province’s advantages on industry sector, seaport sector, seaport logistic services and tourism, Ba Ria - Vung Tau will focus on attracting investment into four key areas: industry projects with high technology, products with high added value, less energy consumption, environmentally friendly technology; port logistic services to support operation of Cai Mep - Thi Vai international port complex; high-quality tourism; agriculture with high-tech linked to processing.
In order o realize policies of the province, in August, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province organized conference on investment promotion in Ho Chi Minh City to create an important forum for investors to and discuss explore the investment environment and identify potential, advantages and opportunities of development cooperation in Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
Also in August, the Provincial Department of Industry and Trade held a seminar entitled "Solutions on attracting investment and developing supporting industries" with the participation of other departments, agencies, vocational training schools and experts in supporting industry. Some solutions on attracting investment was brought up, including completing mechanisms and policies to develop supporting industry; develop policies to encourage companies with foreign capital.
The province was aware that in order to develop supporting industries, they have to develop science and technology, improve the quality of human resources and infrastructure within and outside industrial parks and clusters to facilitate supporting industry.
Supporting policies for technology innovation in enterprises
In order to help enterprises overcome difficulties, Vung Tau province promulgated many policies and launched projects to support implementation of technological innovation. The Provincial People’s Committee directed all management levels and sectors to facilitate enterprises in investing advanced technology.
In the period of 2001-2014, science and technology programs supported implementation of 151 projects worth more than 6 billion VND; in which 86 schemes applying advanced management systems, 35 schemes on technological innovation, application of information technology and energy saving, 11 projects on cleaner production and pollution treatment, 19 schemes on trademark registration.
In the period of 2012-2014, the project on productivity and quality implemented to support 78 enterprises with a total budget of 4.3 billion VND; in which the enterprises were received financial support for training and management systems, tools, productivity and quality improvement tool, conformity standard certification, national quality awards, comprehensive improvement of productivity and quality.
Through activities that Ba Ria-Vung Tau implemented and are going to implement in the near future, the provincial leaders have showed their determination in promoting industrial development and investment attraction, which promotes local enterprises to innovate their technology, improve the quality of human resources, improve their productivity and product quality to enhance competitiveness and international integration in the new period.
