Increased access to modern technology for Vietnamese businesses

This workshop aims to help businesses in the field of mechanical engineering - machine manufacturing and supporting industries as well as to help teachers and students of the mechanical engineering industry to update new technology trends and solutions. In addition, the workshop also provided information on the State's supporting policies for enterprises applying new technologies. Moreover, this is also a bridge between the school and businesses and authorities to jointly train high quality human resources to complete the mission of the school and contribute to the socio-economic development.
 
With the goal of linking training establishments, state management agencies and advising technological policy for enterprises and manufacturers transferring new technologies in the fields of mechanical engineering, machine manufacturing, automation and supporting industries approaching new technology trends in the context of international integration and the industrial revolution 4.0, VCCI brings together the latest information on state technology and policies for the sector in the future.
 
The data presented at the workshop showed that 75% of the imported machines and lines in 60-70s the previous century and 90% of the 8,000 surveyed enterprises said they did not have technological improvement strategy due to financial difficulties.
 
Meanwhile, Ms. Pham Thi Thu Hang - General Secretary of VCCI commented: "According to VCCI's survey, the means of information supply is not really good between the supply side – Vietnamese enterprises and the demand side- foreign enterprises. According to Hang, "This is reflected in the fact that Vietnamese enterprises do not know clearly which technical requirements and standards of products that foreign enterprises need."
 
Commenting on the potential of the Vietnamese industrial market, Mr. Takahito Otsu, General Manager of Mazak Vietnam, said: "Vietnam's industry is growing faster than other ASEAN countries and there are a lot of potential for further development in the future. "I would like the workshop to create more opportunities for cooperation to enhance the linkage between Vietnamese and foreign enterprises in the supply chain of industrial value," Otsu added.
 
In particular, the workshop also provides policy solutions to assist enterprises in applying new technologies, including the National Technological Innovation Fund (NATIF). Dr. Chu Duc Hoang, NATIF representative, said the fund's activities are aimed at supporting technology innovation enterprises to create products that bring high added value. Accordingly, the Fund will support from 30 to 100% of the cost of business in industrial innovation with 6 criteria. Firstly, having feasibility studies; Secondly, having management, investment, production and business strategy; Third, enhance the added value of the product; Four, standardized quality management system; Firth, having financial resources; Sixth, separate criteria for each task group.
 
Over the past few years, science and technology (S & T) activities have been stepped up to focus on serving socio-economic development programs, supporting and creating favorable conditions for enterprises to reach the national and international science and technology achievements. A number of enterprises have stepped up their investment in technology renewal, producing products with high S & T content, innovating management through the application of quality management systems in accordance with international standards and Vietnam standards to create competitive products in the market.
 
In order to access to new technology in training as well as in production and business, at the workshop, some ideas have been suggested to connect closely the enterprises with the training environment, research, practice, build models of cooperation in technology investment, training according to "order".
