Tien Giang: Giving priority to the development programs of priority industries and key industries
Tien Giang province is located in Mekong river delta, has an area of 2,367 km2 and a population of over 1,700,000. The province’s economy mainly depends on agriculture, industry, service, fishery... Therefore, Tien Giang aims to diversify industries and products to meet the domestic and foreign demands...
In particular, the targets of Tien Giang are:
- To strengthen the promotion activities and call for investment in industrial parks;
- To complete the procedures to transfer Soai Rap Petroleum Service industrial park to Tien Giang and increase the investment into this industrial park, promote the industrial development in the Eastern region of the province;
- To actively call for investment in Dong Nam Tan Phuoc and Go Cong industrial zones;
- To continue to upgrade the industrial clusters that have invested in infrastructure construction;
- To strongly attract secondary projects to invest in Tan My Chanh and Song Thuan industrial clusters;
- To make the industrial production value of the entire province increase by 22.3%, especially focus on the development of craft villages and services in local regions. In order to preserve and develop craft villages, Tien Giang province has officially recognized 13 projects about craft villages and invested in their development with a total infrastructure construction cost of over 30 billion VND.
Tien Giang Industrial Promotion Center also actively collaborated with agencies, organizations and establishments to promote training activities, coordinated with Vocational College of Economics and Technology of Tien Giang Trade Union to organize vocational courses about wool knitting and sweater manufacturing for 200 workers at Southern Knitting Joint Stock Company, cooperated with Cho Gao Division of Economics and Infrastructure, Cho Gao Vocational Training Center to organize training courses about wood carving for 30 rural workers at Thanh Trieu Carpentry and Wood Carving Facility, Luong Hoa Lac commune, Cho Gao district, Tien Giang province,...
After being completed, those projects have generated jobs for hundreds of local workers, improved skills and expertise of the labor force, helped businesses to active in manufacturing and trading activities, contributed to the restructuring of the local economy.
In the future, the Department of Industry and Trade as well as the Industrial Promotion Center of Tien Giang will continue to support the development of industries and handicrafts in rural areas of Tien Giang until 2020, invest in the technology innovation of enterprises and the development programs for priority industries and key industries,…
