Accordingly, Hanoi will develop household models using new energy, renewable energy, clean energy in the energy-consuming facilities such as biogas digesters, water heaters and solar tanks, integrate the National Target Program to Respond to Climate Change and the Cleaner Production Strategy in Industry to encourage energy-consuming facilities to invest in new equipment and high-performance technologies, save resources, protect the environment and promote the economic development in conformity with the model of green and sustainable growth.
In addition, Hanoi will focus on developing high energy-efficient equipment, supporting the transfer of energy saving technology and the development of green - clean technology through organizing the international trade fair “Technology for energy and environment in Ha Noi”, disseminating solutions, technologies and experiences about energy efficiency through conferences, forums and publications, supporting the pilot implementation of energy saving measures in second-class markets, eliminating low-efficiency equipment, encouraging households to save electricity and energy, developing habits of using energy efficiently.
In the short term, Hanoi will promote the economical and efficient use of energy in industrial production facilities in Noi Bai Industrial Park; Lai Xa - Kim Chung and Truong An (Hoai Duc) Industrial Clusters, enhance the energy efficiency of irrigation pump stations, modernize irrigation constructions, build the database systems of energy saving solutions for textile businesses and mechanical engineering facilities that serve in the national defense sector, identify energy saving potentials and optimize manufacturing processes. Especially, Hanoi will boost the economical and efficient use of energy in buildings, public lighting and transport sectors.
In 2015, thanks to the implementation of the National Target Program on the economical and efficient use of energy, Hanoi has saved 325 million kWh of electricity and has become one of the leading localities of Vietnam in the economical and efficient use of energy sector.
According to Dr. Dao Hong Thai, Director of Hanoi Energy Conservation Center, the movement "Households save electricity and energy" in the past year has brought in positive results with an electricity saving of 241,000 kWh through the Earth Hour campaign and 35 million kWh through the energy saving activities of households.
Moreover, in 2015, Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade supported the execution of energy audits in 9 industrial production facilities and completed the supportive consultation for 51 solutions. These solutions helped businesses to gradually eliminate low-efficiency equipment and replace them with high-efficiency ones.
Ha Noi has completed the execution of energy audits in buildings, proposed 37 effective solutions for 11 buildings which help save 170.68 TOE / year, equivalent to 2.11 billion VND / year.
