During the transition period, members from the Center for excellence in energy made an assessment report on the potential of biomass resources and the potential to attract the investment of enterprises in the model to produce electricity - heat in An Giang province.

With the desire to continue to support enterprises to reduce production costs by utilizing biomass resources as well as enhancing the capacity for the provincial staff in this area; Associate Professor.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Van Ha, Professor Bjorn Kjellstrom and Professor Jan Dahl completed the project in cooperation with the Swedish Energy Agency for the expansion phase, which especially paying attention in the construction of one pilot pattern of 1MW rice husk power plant in Chau Phu district, An Giang province and in the component of training for CoE groups.

Therefore, the Project Supervisors received an invitation to attend the conference on bilateral cooperation organized by the Energy Agency in Stockholm Capital on 05/20/2015 to search for funding to the above project. Attending the seminar were famous Professors in countries, financial institutions, banks, the Swedish International Center for Local Democracy, enterprises, units with projects to propose the sponsorship and Vietnam delegation (including Associate Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thi Van Ha, Vice-Chairman of An Giang Provincial People’s Committee Ho Viet Hiep, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology - Dinh Thi Viet Huynh and the Director of Project Management Unit (PMU) Pham Ngoc Xuan).

At the seminar, the delegation of Vietnam reported the results of the cooperation program between An Giang and Sweden, activities of the CoE elite experts, results in accessing to financial institutions in Vietnam and the development orientation of An Giang province in the coming period.

In particular, the report on the cooperation project with Swedish Energy Agency in the expansion phase had highly persuasiveness to the workshop participants. The participants such as: the Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD - funding agency), Swedish scientists and some other countries were sympathetic to  support for this project. As expected in August 2015 there will have the result from the sponsor.

The support of experts at the seminar is a testament to the success of cooperation project between An Giang province and the Swedish Energy Agency in particular, and to other cities of Sweden in general. The participants from countries around the world are hoping the ICLD will fund to the project on building the power, heat plant model and the silica products./.
