In order to promote the industrial advantages of the province, seaports, logistic services and tourism, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province implements policy to attract investment into the four focusing areas: industry projects with high technology, products with high added value and less energy consumption, environmentally friendly products, services on port logistics, operation support system of Cai Mep - Thi Vai international transit port; high-quality tourism; agriculture with high-tech applications linked to processing.
To realize the policy of the province, in August, the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has organized investment promotion conference in Ho Chi Minh City to create an important forum for investors to exchange and explore the investment environment and identify the potential and advantages, investment opportunities of development cooperation in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.
Also in August, the Provincial Department of Industry and Trade held a seminar entitled "Solutions to attract investment and develop supporting industries" with the participation of other departments and agencies, vocational training schools and experts in the supporting industry. Some solutions to attract investment to be made, including complete mechanisms and policies to support industrial development; develop policies to encourage companies with foreign capital.
In order to develop supporting industries, the province identified the need to develop science and technology, improve the quality of human resources and infrastructure within and outside the industrial parks and clusters to facilitate supporting industry for development.
Support enterprises to invest in technology innovation
In order to help enterprises overcome difficulties, the People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has issued a lot of policies and programs to support the implementation of technological innovation. The People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has directed all levels and sectors to facilitate enterprises to gradually invest in advanced technology to put into production.
In the period of 2001-2014, the science and technology program supported enterprises in the province to implement 151 projects worth more than 6 billion VND; of which 86 schemes applying advanced management systems, 35 projects on technological innovation, application of information technology and energy saving, 11 projects on cleaner production and pollution treatment, 19 projects on trademark registration.
In the period of 2012-2014, projects on productivity and quality were implemented to support 78 with a total budget of 4.3 billion VND; of which, the enterprises were supported funding for training and building management systems, productivity and quality improvement tools, for standard conformity certification, national quality award, comprehensive improvement of productivity and quality.
Through the activities that Ba Ria Vung Tau province has implemented and planned to implement in the near future, it can see the determination of provincial leaders in promoting industrial development and investment attraction. Thereby, promoting local enterprises to innovate their current technology, improve quality of human resources, improve productivity and quality, enhance competitiveness and integration in the new period.
