URENCO start operating industrial waste treatment generation plant

30/11/2016

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Huynh, deputy general director of UNRENCO express: this the demonstration project funded by Japan for development of The facility represents the first ever industrial waste incinerator and power generator built in Vietnam. Japanese side supplies and exchanges the full technologies of the plants. Vietnam construct the foundation and related technical infrastructure. This is the pioneer in modern industrial waste treatment processes that have not known in Vietnam and the region, implementation under the cooperation between 2 countries Vietnam and Japan under Green Aid Program (GAP) of Japan.  It will help to alleviate energy shortages while reducing environmental pollution by burning 75 tons per day of industrial waste that would normally go to landfill sites in Hanoi and using the recovered waste heat to generate 1,960 kW of power. Dioxin output will be well below the designated medical waste restriction of 2.3ng-TEQ/m3N, said to be the strictest in Vietnam, and below the equivalent Japanese regulatory limit of 0.1ng-TEQ/m3N. The electricity will be spent for other activities of the plants and served in to national grid for locality.
Industrial waste incinerator to generate electricity Nam Son complex waste treatment plant is the first demonstration facility in Vietnam applying the Japanese advanced technology for recovery energy from industrial waste. When operating the plant will contribute to increase of energy efficiency and environment protection through construction of industrial waste treatment incinerators, exhaust gas treatment systems, thermal recovery and electricity generators by steam turbine technology.
The project has total investment of over 645 billion Vietnam Dong, in which non-refundable aid of Industrial technology and renewable energy development organization is 1,779 million Yen (equivalent to 474 million Vietnam dong), the Reciprocal capital is more than 173 billion Vietnam Dong. The plant will be completed and start operating in 26 December 2016.
