The supporting office in implementation of cleaner production in industry (Ministry of Industry and Trade), with the development of Vietnam energy industry, fossil energy still to be the unreplaceable energy. However, in which there are some types of energy which is considered as the environmentally friendly energy.
One of them is natural gas. With the introduction of natural gas mining in Tien Hai, Thai Binh province in 28/9/2015, the companies in the North of Vietnam have gradually switched to this new fuel source.
In the North, there are a relatively large number of tile, ceramic, glass and steel factories. Most factories consume fossil fuels such as diesel oil, coal, LPG mainly.
However, the problems when using these fuels is incomplete burning of the fuels leading to generate soot and slag. Thus, the performance of the fuel does not reach the maximum.
Burning that fuels generate dust, fly ash, so that the companies who want to ensure exhaust gas emission under the standard need to invest a dust treatment system. The system will cost a huge investment.
Fly ash in the exhaust gas include toxic gas such as NOx, CO, SO2 affecting to environment and human health.
To construct a exhaust gas treatment, the companies often use the adsorption tower by water absorbing and washing away dust, so it spend a huge amount of water In addition, waste water must be treated.
The natural gas resources in the North are ready to exploitment, the companies have gradually switch to exploit the new energy resources.
To be able to supply to factories, natural gas is compressed to a pressure of 200-250 bar, at this condition the volume of gas decreased to 200-250 times and called CNG and transported to factories by tanker trailer. At the factories, CNG is reduced the pressure to the technological requirement of each plant.
CNG and its advantages.
Costs for that fuels will be lower due to price of CNG of PVGasN is lower than price of other fuels.
On the other hand, it can reduce dust, fly ash, toxic gases emission because, 85% of CNG gas is methane. Burning CNG only create CO2 hand water vapor due to high combustion efficiency. Therefore it meet the requirement of health and environment as defined in current existing regulations.
Reduction of maintenance costs due to no dust, slag, fly ash created in combustion process. No SO2 created so that equipment will be not corroded that increasing the equipment lifetime.
As calculated by some factories, maintain cost decrease 40% everagely in comparion of using DO and 60% in case of using coal.
CNG is lighter than air, therefore if gas is leaked into the air, it will not cause accumulation of exploisive ability. CNG does not emit toxic substances, the environment condition for worker will be safer. The companies do not need to pay for that potential risk.
The only difficulty that the companies have to invest a new combustion system. However, in both economical and environmental view, the investment costs are worth for the companies.
With the benefits, many companies have switched to CNG combustion system such as VFG Vietnam Float Glass company, Thach Ban tiles company, Long Phuong ceramic Company, etc.
