Training course on sustainable production and consumption for policy makers in the Southern provinces

This is the chain of training courses for policy makers in the entire country which is organized by Vietnam Environment Administration in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) with the target to implement the policy of the Party and Government on strengthening the environmental protection activities in association with the social economic development and implementing the National Strategy for Green Growth.

Giving the opening remarks at the training course, Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of the Center for Training and Environmental Communication, under Vietnam  Environment Administration, emphasized that Vietnam is currently facing a lot of difficulties and challenges, such as the hot growth, the incomplete and asynchronous growth, the overuse and overexploitation of natural resources and nature, the use of outdated, inappropriate equipment, machinery and technologies in production..., causing environmental pollution.

Therefore, disseminating information and knowledge about the application of cleaner production solutions and methods in real life is probably the best way to enhance the efficient use of natural resources, reduce the emissions of pollutants and contaminants, contribute to environmental protection, ensure the good health for people in the community and actively promote the sustainable production and consumption.

The training program focused on the following main contents: 

- To provide necessary information and knowledge on cleaner production;

- To show the benefits generated from the application of sustainable production and consumption; 

- To show the principles of implementing sustainable production and consumption;

- To provide measures and solutions for encouraging the community, people and businesses to implement sustainable production and consumption.

The training course aimed at helping students to approach and carry out sustainable production and consumption in their facilities, in order to improve product quality, reduce production costs, reuse raw materials, contribute to environmental protection and sustainable development.

After the training course, the participants had the actual study tour to conduct a survey on clean vegetable production models at An Bi Can Tho company, which is one of the facilities successfully applied the model of sustainable production and consumption.

The training course on sustainable production and consumption in the Northern region will be held in Bac Ninh city on August 24th and 25th, 2016.
