Tuyen Quang province organized training workshop on cleaner production and energy efficiency
Recently, the Tuyen Quang provincial Center for Industrial Promotion and Development Consultancy held a training workshop on cleaner production and energy efficiency for businesses in the province with the cooperation of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Development Consultancy 1.
The workshop attracted the participation of representatives of the Tuyen Quang provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the organizational unit and representatives of enterprises and rural industrial manufacturing establishments in Tuyen Quang province.

The workshop aimed at propagating the widespread use of high-efficiency equipment which would gradually replace low-efficiency one, stimulating the elimination of out-of-date technologies/equipment and application of advanced technical standards in order to improve energy efficiency in production and business activities of enterprises. Besides, objectives of the workshop were to make industrial manufacturing establishements aware of benefits of the application of cleaner production in industry; to guide industrial manufacturing establishments to comply with legal documents and carry out mechanisms, policies, plans, schemes and programs on cleaner production so as to protect the environment and pursue the sustainable development.
During two-day workshop, many legal documents, mechanisms and policies on energy efficiency and cleaner production were introduced to participants helping industrial manufacturing establishments and handicraft manufacturers approach and evaluate benefits of economical and efficient use of energy in production activities as well as the application of cleaner production to enhance enterprises' productivity and contribute to the environmental protection.
Participants also had experts on productivity and quality of industrial products guide how to use productivity and quality improvement tools and apply solutions to internal control. It is one of the cleaner production methods that do not claim much initial investment but bring about high economic benefits.
At the workshop, delegates discussed with each other and with trainers the process of conducting energy audit. Then some enterprises proposed improvement of the automation of production line and development of the energy management systems.
Rural industrial manufacturing establishments also shared their experiences in production cost saving and pointed out difficulties in applying cleaner production and reducing energy consumption. For example, enterprises' awareness on cleaner production and energy efficiency was limited; they had to encounter technological barriers as small and medium enterprises depended not only on employees' capacity and experiences but also on their technical level of monitoring, control and innovation of technologies and their access to information on the success in raw material and fuel consumption reduction and energy efficiency; they also faced financial difficulties as initial investment for advanced and energy-efficient technologies were beyond their ability and the payback period was long.
