Bac Kan promotes sustainable production and consumption

Bac Kan province has been implementing synchronous solutions to implement sustainable production and consumption, in order to develop the economy quickly and efficiently, protect the environment, contribute to poverty reduction and economic restructuring.

Specifically, since June 2021, the Provincial People's Committee directed units and localities to promote propaganda, focusing on the guidelines of the Party, policies, and laws of the State on sustainable production and consumption; promote cleaner production, produce environmentally friendly products, apply models, and link sustainably along the product life cycle chain; guiding people to good practices on green shopping, practicing sustainable lifestyles, in harmony with nature and protecting the environment…
Promoting cleaner production, production of environmentally friendly products, Bac Kan province supports the deployment and replication of production linkage models along the value chain; develop a network of sustainable links between handicraft production and industrial production; supporting enterprises to improve their capacity to implement requirements and technical regulations on environment and sustainable development of stakeholders in the chain.
Along with that, the province directs specialized branches to guide and support the implementation and replication of models of sustainable product, supply chains associated with product traceability; organic farming models, sustainable farming models. The province has also been promoting research and application of science and technology into production through science and technology projects.
Currently, Bac Kan province has completely abolished manual fired brick kilns, instead, developing factories producing building materials and unburnt bricks. Determining clean agricultural production and organic agriculture, Bac Kan has been focusing on supporting cooperatives to participate in high-tech agricultural production models.
From 2018 - 2020, the province has supported 158 projects to develop production linked along the value chain associated with product consumption under the National Target Program on building new rural areas; supporting 6 cooperatives to participate in building a new model of cooperative production associated with value chains…
According to the Project "Restructuring the agricultural sector in Bac Kan province towards increasing added value and sustainable development in the period of 2020 - 2025, with a vision to 2035", Bac Kan province has set targets to strive for by 2020. By 2025, 40% of key agro-forestry products (wood, medicinal herbs, oranges, tangerines, seedless persimmons, buffalo, cows, pigs, vermicelli, tea) have traceability and meet organic standards or VietGap, sustainable forest management standard or FSC; 30% of vermicelli products meet the standards of organic products... Up to now, the province has 131 OCOP products rated 3 stars or more; there are 46 hectares of oranges and tangerines meeting VietGAP standards; 224 hectares of tea trees meet food safety standards, VietGap…
With the consensus and participation of all levels and sectors in sustainable production and consumption, Bac Kan province will manage, exploit effectively and sustainably use natural resources and fuels; create stable jobs, promote sustainable lifestyles and improve people's quality of life.
