Encouraging results from watershed pollution control

Pollution control from upstream for industrial and handicraft production activities in craft villages in Hanoi in recent years has initially brought encouraging outcomes. Many households have realized that production must go hand in hand with environmental protection along with internal management and investment in technology transformation.

Since 2013, the Bat Trang and Kim Lan pottery villages (Gia Lam district) have been chosen by the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade to deploy a pilot model of converting the energy used to burn ceramic kilns from fossil fuels to using gas furnaces. At the same time, training for households to practice good 5S to create a green, clean and low emission production environment. Up to now, visitors coming and buying goods at these two craft villages can enjoy the fresh atmosphere, the clean village streets and alleys and spacious because all the ceramic producing households have converted the ceramic firing technology from fossil fuels to clean, zero-emission fuels (electricity and gas).
Besides, after the successful conversion of zero-emission kilns, being aware of the benefits that technology brings to product quality, creating a green and clean living environment, many households have actively invested in the renovation of production technology, put modern machinery in the tillage stage in order to reduce dust emission into the environment, improve productivity and product quality. 
Typically, CERAMICS Thanh Binh Co., Ltd. (Kim Lan commune, Gia Lam district), with the support from the Center for Industrial Promotion and Consulting for Industrial Development (Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade), in 2020, this enterprise has invested in kaolin land production line. Thereby, it is contributing to improving the competitiveness of products and especially reducing dust emissions during the tillage process into the environment.
Since 2012, through the project of converting traditional ceramic kilns from coal to gas kilns implemented by Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, at that time Thanh Binh ceramic production facility (CERAMICS Thanh Binh Co., Ltd.) has recognized the need for technological innovation towards sustainable development and pioneers in energy conversion to reduce emissions in the production process. 
The investment in converting the traditional coal-fired ceramic kiln to a modern gas-fired ceramic kiln brought high economic efficiency to the Thanh Binh ceramic production facility at that time. New technology has helped reduce the rate of broken products to 2-5% while in the past with manual ovens, this figure was quite high, at about 20%. At the same time, the working environment of workers has been improved as well as 20% of waste to the environment has been reduced, production efficiency and product quality have been improved.
With the investment in the kaolin soil production line, CERAMICS Thanh Binh Co., Ltd. will certainly realize innovative ideas about products, improved quality and productivity, and a safe working environment, low emission while the health of workers is ensured.
