According to Binh Thuan Provincial Department of Industry and Trade, 90 solar power projects whose total capacity is more than 5,340 MWp were registered to be deployed on the area of 6,725 ha. Their total investment capital is expected to be VND137,209 billion. Up to now, 4 solar power projects whose total capacity is159.5 MWp have had their levelling and construction investment procedures carried out.
Most recently, on Septemper 19, 2018, Tuy Phong Solar Power Plant located in Vinh Hao Commune, Tuy Phong District officially commenced. The factory has a capacity of 30MW and is built on the land whose area is 50ha. Its total investment is about VND1,000 billion. Coming into operation, the plant will provide approximately 63 million KWh of electricity annually.

It is known that since the beginning of the year, 28 provincial projects has had their planning approved by the Prime Minister and Ministry of Industry and Trade to be supplemented and 23 projects have has their investment plan approved. In addition, Binh Thuan province has proposed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to appraise 52 projests on supplementation of the National Power Development Planning, supplementation of Binh Thuan Provincial Power Development Planning or supplementation of the synchronous National Solar Power Development Planning,... Besides, the province has also proposed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to appraise and approve the supplementation of nearly 20 solar power projects' planning.
According to the provincial planning, by 2030, Binh Thuan province will attract investment in developing solar power plants whose total capacity will be over 4,000 MW. This is one of the favorable conditions for Binh Thuan province to become a clean energy center in the future.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hai, Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee said that regarding the planning of solar power development, the province always made effort to creat favorable conditions to raise capital from various economic elements to exploit energy and land resources optimally.
Binh Thuan province is one of the driest provinces in the country, however it is a favorable condition for the development of solar power which is one of the world's cleanest energy sources.
Mr. Huynh Thanh Canh, Deputy Secretary of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee said that the province was one of the localities having numerous sunshine hours, high and stable radiation, which was very suitable for developing solar power, especially in the northern region and in addition, the Government strongly stimulates investment in the development of solar power.
The provincial solar power sector draws so much attraction from investors now. Therefore, the province needs to orient the development of solar power in the area in the future in order to attract qualified and experienced economic elements to participate in exploiting solar energy and land resources effectively with a view to promoting the economic structural transformation and energy industry development contributing to ensuring the national energy security.
