Viet Nam stimulates the use of green building materials in construction works

01/10/2018

Using green materials is a trend of modern construction works with the aim of sustainable development. Nowadays, many large countries and cities aregradually reducing the use of building materials that cause harm to the environment. Following this trend, Vietnam accelerates the use of green building materials in construction works.
New building materials that are being developed include non-baked building materials, ecological paints, gypsum boards, insulation materials ... In particular, our country has produced about 24 billion bricks saving an area of land of more than 1,800 ha, 3.6 million tons of coal and reducing 13 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
According to the Vietnam Building Material Association, by 2030, the building material industry will have production technologies which are highly advanced and automatic and use less raw materials and energy to run; high quality products which meet international standards, become competitive in the world market and especially meet the requirements of environmental protection.
Mr. Tong Van Nga, Chairman of the Vietnam Building Material Association told that the industry would focus on solutions to producing green building materials for short and long-term period.
"I hope that with contributions of leading managers and technicians and international cooperation, the building material industry in Vietnam will make breakthroughs in selecting manufacturing technologies and building advanced equipment for business and management and trade with a view to having more and more green building materials", Mr. Nga emphasized.
According to the Vietnam Building Materials Association, Vietnam will accelerate the development of green building materials by 2030. However, there are not many incentive mechanisms and policies and due to the market's competitiveness, not many enterprises involves in production of green building materials. Therefore, it is important to accelerate the development of green building materials.
"With a view to achieving expected results in the production and use of green building materials, it is necessary to carry out synchronous solutions in the future such as investing in technological innovation; training human resource;  promoting the market research and propaganda activities. Disseminating objective information on benefits, advantages and disadvantages, successes and failures about the production and use of green building materials will make clients more familiar with this product. As a result, green building materials will gradually replace traditional construction materials" said  Mr. Thai Duy Sam Sam, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Building Materials Association.
