Binh Duong Department of Industry and Trade and Binh Duong Power Company have coordinated with Bach Khoa Investment and Development of Solar Energy Corporation (SolarBK) to organize the “Investment in the energy saving project according to the ESCO model” Seminar in Binh Duong province.
The seminar aimed to orientate and encourage businesses in the province of Binh Duong to use energy in a safe, economical and efficient way. This is also an opportunity for businesses to connect, update valuable information, to meet the requirements of the national target program on the economical and efficient use of energy, and to intensify electricity saving activities in conformity with Directive No. 171 of the Prime Minister.
At the seminar, the representatives of Bach Khoa Investment and Development of Solar Energy Corporation presented the method to heat water by solar energy according to the ESCO model. This measure was demonstrated thoroughly and concretely in order for businesses to choose the most appropriate plan.
In particular, the model to share savings and commit savings will help businesses to save at least 60% of the fuel costs which are used for water boiling / heating compared to the costs when they use electricity. This is a new model whose target is to help businesses quickly and effectively approach the application of solar energy and clean energy technology in manufacturing and operating activities.
When participating in ESCO model, businesses will not have to invest initial capitals in the installation and operation of solar-based water heating systems. This model also helps businesses to utilize clean energy, increase brand value and enhance competitiveness.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Duc, Deputy General Director of EVN SPC said, Vietnam Electricity Corporation had given approval to EVN SPC on the pilot implementation of “Researching a case study of ESCO model in the use of industrial water heater” Project for about 10 clients which operate in the sectors of restaurants, hotels, plants, factories and high-end resorts in southern provinces, with a total investment of about 15 billion VND. In particular, EVN SPC contributed 12 billion VND and SolarBK contributed 3 billion VND to that investment.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Duc, up to the present, EVN SPC has implemented and commissioned one project in Can Tho Seafood Import and Export Company (Caseamex) which consumes 23,000 liters of hot water per day; three projects being under construction phase including Ninh Kieu Hotel - Can Tho City (15,000 liters), Cuu Long Hotel - Vinh Long City (5,000 liters), Siva Hotel - Phan Thiet City (5,000 liters); two projects being in progress of contract negotiation including Dong Thap Seafood Company and Ganh Hao 1 Restaurant - Vung Tau City.
Although the ESCO model had been introduced by a lot of companies previously, but due to the limitation of capitals and lack of experiences in consulting and implementing many projects at the same time, the model has not been widely adopted. Therefore, the cooperation between EVN SPC and SolarBK about ESCO model was established based on national policies to support Vietnamese businesses to catch up the international trend of using energy economically and efficiently and improve competitiveness.
