Could you tell us more about wastewater treatment projects for slaughter facilities?
Hanoi spent over VND100 billion to deploy four wastewater treatment
projects for slaughter facilities due to commitments with Hanoi’s
People Committee. One project was completed and the remaining projects
have been urgently implemented. These projects are expected to
contribute to ensuring food safety and hygiene in cattle slaughter,
protecting consumers’ health and gradually changing habits and behavior
of consumers and slaughter facilities.
How do you assess the efficiency of the completed project?
After nine months of implementation, Vinh Anh Food Tech JSC completed
the pilot project on constructing a wastewater treatment plant in
cattle slaughter area in December 2012. The project was approved by
Hanoi’s People Committee in October 2010 with the goal of constructing
a comprehensive wastewater treatment system, including the waste
treatment system in cattle slaughter and food processing; the exhaust
fumes treatment system and wastewater, solid waste and gas emission
collection system in the slaughter process. With a total investment
capital of VND16.052 billion, after putting into operation, the
wastewater treatment system of the company reached a capacity of
250cu.m per day. In addition, the solid waste collection system in the
slaughter process met requirements. All mechanical and biological
wastewater treatment systems were imported from the G7 nations. These
systems have helped the company save about 40cu.m of water per day
thanks to reusing treated wastewater, contributing to protecting the
capital’s environment.
Could you tell us more about the progress of the remaining projects?
Following the success of the pilot project, Hanoi’s People Committee
invested VND90 billion in three wastewater treatment projects in the
Minh Hien Co., Ltd. (Bich Hoa Industrial Zone, Thanh Oai District),
Cattle Trading and Processing Joint Stock Company-Hapro (Ha Binh Phuong
Industrial Zone, Thuong Tin District) and Food Export Joint Stock
Company (Cau Gao Industrial Zone, Dan Phuong District). As of date,
these projects are implementing and expected to be completed in 2013,
contributing to ensuring food safety and hygiene and protecting the
capital’s environment./.
