Like Vietnam, Japan once experienced the period of economic development causing major consequences to the environment. Always putting the objective of environmental protection alongside economic growth, Japan has effectively overcome environmental pollution step by step. Thus, the experience and technology of Japan could be exchanged, transferred and applied in Vietnam, helping Vietnam become a environmentally-friendly country.

Discussing about the strategic relationship between Vietnam and Japan, Minister Nguyen Minh Quang said that, Japan is the nation which provides the greatest support to Vietnam through environmental, mineral and climate change projects. Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will soon consider the report assessing the environmental impacts for the construction project of Lach Huyen port, Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project, Exploitation project of race earth in Dong Pao, etc.. to help these projects soon put in operation.

As far as concerned, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is actively implementing the activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan. On December 13th, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will visit Japan to attend the ASEAN - Japan, promising new bilateral cooperation between the two countries, tightening the relationship of the two countries.
