Over the last many years, the company has created quality, environmentally friendly fertilizer products which are harmless to soil such as phosphate and granular NPK fertilizers that do not require grinding. Many kinds of company products have been exported to large markets such as Japan, Australia, France and Malaysia.

Along with promoting production, VAFCO has paid much attention to protecting the environment around its production facilities, especially wastewater treatment. To treat solid waste (undersized ores), the company applies a method which allows it to take back 100 percent of solid waste in the process of exhaust fumes and wastewater treatment so that it can be used to provide materials for fused phosphate fertilizer production. This method allows the company to restrict environmental pollution and reduce material consumption required to make each tonne of products from 1.6 tonnes to 1.25 tonnes. The method also helps VAFCO take back all undersized ores for use as materials for production, thus reducing production costs.

In the past, the company discharged wastewater after treating it according to industrial wastewater standards. In 2004, the company built a new wastewater treatment system which allowed it to reuse part of the wastewater amount. During the last three years, VAFCO continued to undertake research on new wastewater treatment methods. Currently, the company can reuse more than 95 percent of the wastewater amount, minimizing wastewater discharges to the environment and saving underground water resources. The company is concentrating on research in an effort to make 100 percent of wastewater reusable.

All production lines at the company have exhaust fume treatment systems. During the last five years, VAFCO has undertaken research and applied methods which allowed it to recover dust and improve exhaust fume treatment systems, ameliorating working conditions for its employees.

The above methods have helped VAFCO recover and reuse part of the waste amount to provide materials for production, thus reducing the production cost. The company has won many environmental awards such as the Green Brand 2011 Award. Last year, the company was recognized by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment as a business working for the green environment of the capital. VAFCO has been appreciated as one of the typical cleaner production examples in Hanoi. /.
