Promote cooperation in sustainable infrastructure, smart city and green building

On October 5, in Hanoi, the Department of Science, Technology and Environment - Ministry of Construction and BRE Group held the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding on sustainable infrastructure, smart urban and green building.
Attending the ceremony were Mrs. Phan Thi My Linh - Deputy Minister of Construction, Mr. Jaya Skandamoorthy - BRE Asia Pacific regional director, Mr. Edward Vaizey - British Prime Minister’s Trade Specialist to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia and Mr. Gareth Ward - British Ambassador to Vietnam.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister Phan Thi My Linh said that Viet Nam and the United Kingdom have been cooperating for many years in a number of areas including government management of the Ministry of Construction such as planning, urban development, green building.
Deputy Minister Phan Thi My Linh expressed the impression of the business model as well as the research results of BRE Group and hoped that the close cooperation with the BRE Group will help the Ministry of Construction to implement successfully plans for energy saving, smart urban development, green building.
Appreciating the cooperation between the Ministry of Construction and the BRE Group, the British Trade Specialist Edward Vaizey said the signing of the MoU was one of the important events which showed Viet Nam's commitment for energy saving, smart urban development, sustainable development and green building.
According to the MOU, the Ministry of Construction and the BRE Group will promote cooperation in the following areas: Building a system of standards, regulations, certification systems, labeling and quality assurance, compliance and safety; using the tools of measurement, monitoring, evaluation of best practice building and calibration of performance indicators and construction environment; training and experience exchange to improve professional qualifications; cooperating on new technologies and materials.
