Binh Thuan province: More than 70% of businesses surveyed are aware of cleaner production benefits
In the recent past, Binh Thuan province organized many activities to implement the plan on Implementation of the Cleaner Production Strategy in industry in Binh Thuan province up to 2020". It attached much importance to raising awareness of state management officials and local enterprises on cleaner production.
Namely since 2010, the province has organized many training courses and workshops in order to disseminate cleaner production knowledge to enterprises, industrial manufacturing establishments and handicraft manufacturers.
Since 2011, the Binh Thuan provincial Centre for Industrial Promotion has conducted rapid assessments on cleaner production for 5 enterprises specializing in seafood, fish sauce, cashew nut processing.
Some enterprises specializing in rubber, seafood processing, noodle and mineral water manufacturing, brick production have been also entitled to enjoy financial support to carry out rapid assessments cleaner production.
In 2017, provincial authorities conducted surveys on the situation and potential of cleaner production application of local businesses and found out solutions for the future.
Among 200 enterprises surveyed (out of 1,500 industrial enterprises in the province), 141 enterprises accounting for 70% were aware of cleaner production application benefits.
74 industrial enterprises carried out cleaner production solutions and among the 74 enterprises, 6 enterprises reduced their energy, material and fuel consumption by 5-8% per unit of product. .
With a view to promoting the application of cleaner production in the community of industrial enterprises in the province, in 2019 and 2020, Binh Thuan province will continue to focus on stimulating businesses to start applying cleaner production techniques. In addition to organizing training courses and providing technical guidance, the province will support 3 industrial manufacturing establishments having potential of application of cleaner production to advantageous products, preferential industrial products, agricultural and marine product processing. At the same time, Binh Thuan province proposes the Ministry of Industry and Trade to institutionalize cleaner production activities at a higher level: they should be stipulated in at least the the Prime Minister's decree and guaranteed by some sanctions in some circumstances.
