Vinh Long province achieves increasing productivity and environmental benefits thanks to cleaner production application
Not only does cleaner production bring long-term benefits to the enterprise but it also contributes to environmental protection and sustainable development. In Vinh Long province, thanks to the support of authorities, many enterprises have actively innovated production methods, improved technology and made investment in modern equipment with a view to achieving increasing productivity and environmental benefits.

Ba Khanh noodle manufacturing establishment (located in Truong An commune, Vinh Long city) has spent more than VND1 billion in building workshops and buying new equipment and technologies in order to innovate its production process and ensure food safety. Its owner Luu Kim Phung said that: "I have used new equipment effectively. With old equipment, noodle have to go through the washing stage. But with new one, noodle does not, at the same time the autoclave temperature which is over 100 degrees is able to sterilize bacteria and mold and increase the preservation time to 36-48 hours instead of 24 hours as before". It is known that Ba Khanh noodle manufacturing establishment has been the first establishment in the noodle production sector to get the ISO 22000: 2005, which is a new international standard on food safety.
Since 2010, the Department of Industry and Trade of Vinh Long province has given advanced equipment for manufacturing establishments and enterprises in the province.
According to Mrs. Le Truc My, Deputy Director of Son Hai CO., LTD, thanks to investment in modern machinery, the company has got annual increasing productivity and saved 20-30% of labor helping it enhance its prestige, join the competitive market and gain customer appreciation.
With a view to stimulating more enterprises in the province to apply cleaner production solutions, in 2018, the Center of Industry Promotion and Industrial Development Consultancy (Department of Trade and Industry) will give advanced equipment to about 10 rural industrial manufacturing establishments, organize 3 workshops on cleaner production, branding and awareness raising and at the same time support enterprises and manufacturing establishments to build and register their brand, design their products and package.

In addition, the People's Committee of Vinh Long Province has also issued "An action plan on implementation of the cleaner production strategy in industry". According to the cleaner production strategy in the period of 2016-2020, by 2020, 90% of industrial manufacturing establishments having potential to apply cleaner production will be disseminated and aware of benefits of application of cleaner production in industry, 50% of industrial manufacturing establishments will apply cleaner production, industrial manufacturing establishments applying cleaner production will reduce 8-13% energy, raw materials per unit of product, the industry will be restructured towards green development and high value-added sectors consuming energy and resources effectively will be stimulated.
In fact, many enterprises and manufacturing establishments in the province have not really attached importance to cleaner production, environmental protection and even considered these 2 issues "the State's business". Therefore, with a view to promoting the application of cleaner production, Vinh Long province needs to develop and carry out intense propaganda strategies and issue strict sanctions not only for the good of the environment, businesses but also customers' health.
