Especially, Ho Chi Minh city also strongly stimulates enterprises to abide by pursue the green production and apply 5S in order to meet the increasing requirements of the market in the integration period as well as to improve their competitiveness.

At present, some enterprises involved in supporting industries in Ho Chi Minh City pay attention not only to improvement of the technical process, machine system, production standards to reduce the error rate and costs, ... but also to the protection of clean production environment, temperature, light and input materials.
At the same time, the Government, ministries and departments have promulgated a number of action programs with a view to stimulating the efficient use of land, water energy resources and the application of cleaner production in every industrial manufacturing stage. The State has also adopted legal provisions and economic instruments, given supportive measures and guided the development of cleaner production projects helping businesses apply more cleaner production models so as to improve their competitiveness and product quality.

The company has been constructing high-standard multi-storeyed workshops whose design takes advantage of wind and light to reduce the use of electricity. The environment of workshop or office has to be always green and clean. Particularly, regarding imported steel for molds, the company always calculated the required amount accurately in order to reduce waste.
Meanwhile, joining the global supply chain of multinational corporations is very hard for Vietnam enterprises involved in supporting industries. They have to not only ensure the quality of products, labor productivity, management, delivery time,... but meet the criteria of work environment as well. For example, workshop and office claim appropriate quietness and brightness, environmental sanitation and fire prevention.
Talking about this issue, the representative of Tien Thinh Production and Trade Service Co., Ltd (in Tan Phu Trung Industrial Zone, Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh city) said that the company was selected by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd to be the major supplier of steel cores. In order to become a supplier to Samsung, the company actively implemented technical improvement program focusing on setting up equipment management standards, improving equipment productivity and reducing waste in the production process. The company succeeded in 110 improvements contributing to reducing waste products, saving annual energy and fuel consumption worth about USD150,000. Particularly, thanks to such improvements, the company decreased its inventory a lot, leading to cost savings.
Enterprises' companion
It is said that the application of green, clean production will bright many benefits to enterprises such as production efficiency improvement; more efficient use of materials, water and energy; reuse of valuable semi-finished goods; environmental pollution reduction; reduction of costs of treatment and disposal of solid waste, wastewater and exhaust gases; building of a green business image and improvement of occupational health and safety. However, facing too many facing financial difficulties as well as limited capacity of machine system operation and adjustment, small and medium-sized or ultra small enterprises cannot successfully apply green production models. Therefore, with a view to stimulating them to make investments and easily participate in the global supply chain, the State should have practical supportive solutions such as state-guaranteed credit, preferential interest rates and loan terms ... for enterprises and green, clean, environmentally friendly technology investment projects.
From the point of view of Mrs. Le Nguyen Duy Oanh, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Center of Supporting Industries Development, in the international integration process, green and clean production has become one of the most important trends and strategies of in industries of countries all over the world. It aims at reducing environmental pollution by the most efficient use of resources, materials and energy. Following this trend, in the green growth plan, Ho Chi Minh City has set out key tasks which are reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing renewable energy use; making industrial production green by focusing on promoting supportive solutions for industrial enterprises to implementing restructuring programs towards gradual reduction of the proportion of labor intensive industries and increase of the proportion of knowledge-intensive, technology-intensive industries which are competitive, environmentally-friendly, energy efficient industries and promote the rural development...; promoting sustainable consumption and building green lifestyle by guiding consumers to change their consumption idea and focus on healthy lifestyles, environmental protection, resources and energy saving; encouraging consumers choosing green products that are good for the community's health. Carrying out green manufacturing process is taken into account to decide whether an enterprise is entitled to preferential loan under the city's stimulus program.
