An Giang cooperates with Sweden in the field of sustainable development

In the afternoon of March 23, 2018, Mr. Lam Quang Thi –Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee had a working session with the Pitea City (Sweden) delegation led by Mr. Anders Lundkxist - Deputy Mayor. There are also representatives from Lulea University of Technology, Pitea City Council for Community Development and leaders of An Giang Provincial Departments.
In the afternoon of March 23, 2018, Mr. Lam Quang Thi –Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee had a working session with the Pitea City (Sweden) delegation led by Mr. Anders Lundkxist - Deputy Mayor. There are also representatives from Lulea University of Technology, Pitea City Council for Community Development and leaders of An Giang Provincial Departments.

Mr. Bo Wiberg - Swedish Project Director introduced the Action Plan for An Giang province sustainable development for the period of 2018-2020.
At the meeting, delegates heard Mr Bo Wiberg briefly state the contents of cooperation projects between Pitea city and An Giang province from 2012 to 2020. Accordingly, for the period of 2012 -2014 the two sides had cooperated on turning rice waste into energy for the benefit of the community, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and responding to climate change. In the period of 2015 - 2017, the project had implemented an action plan to utilize rice waste in the producing activities such as mushroom cultivation, cow breeding and post- harvest straw collecting to raise the farmers’ incomes.
The orientation from now until 2020 is that An Giang and Pitea city will promote cooperation in many fields. Specifically, the "Action Plan for an An Giang Province for Sustainable Development" in the period of 2018-2020 in which the application, transfer of advanced science and technology is considered as the foundation for the formation of the value chain of rice plants and agricultural products, step by step creates models for other provinces in the area of green development.
Next, Ms. Helean Karlberg (Lulea University of Technology) presented an overview of the model of Solander Science Park (Piteå, Sweden) which was built and put into operation in 2008. The Solander Science Park is known as a center of research, innovation and support for start-ups in the Nothern Europe with modern facilities and a venue for the leading scientists in the field of green development.
Also at the meeting, the representative of the Project Management Board of An Giang province - Mrs Pham Ngoc Xuan presented a summary of the project's specific action plan in 2018, including many activities such as training, communication, technology transfer ... with the participation of all levels and sectors of An Giang province and Pitea city.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Lam Quang Thi - Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the cooperation between An Giang and Sweden. In particular, the development of high-tech agriculture, the building of the value chain of rice and the protection of the environment are the top concerns in the development orientation of the locality as well as the general development trend of the parties in the project. . The vice-chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province wishes through the cooperation projects and localities can realize the specific tasks, contribute positively to the socio- economic growth of localities in the orientation of sustainable development.
