On 7 July 2017, within the framework of Cleaner Production Training Course held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and EPRO consulting JSC, the delegation included trainees from the Department of Industry and Trade, Industrial Promotion Center, Center for Energy Efficiency and Cleaner Production in the North provinces, along with cleaner production experts has a field tri to the Me Linh Brewery Plant.

The purpose of the visit to Me Linh Brewery Plant is to help trainees working in the field of cleaner production and energy saving, improve their observation skills, quickly assess potential of the enterprise for cleaner production and offer cleaner production solutions, helping the enterprise improve their production and management processes.

Me Linh Brewery Plant operates in accordance with modern European technological processes. All production processes from raw material import, brewing - fermenting to bottling and machine sanitizing are closed and almost water is recyclable. As for such a modern factory, chances of improvement are minimal. However, along with cleaner production expert Nguyen Thi Truyen, the trainees discussed and made valuable suggestions for the factory.

First, hawthorn cookers, brewers and beer fermenters have a relatively high surface temperature (from 45 to 65 degrees Celsius), which results in heat loss to the brewing process. The proposed solution is to install insulation for these devices. This solution is not too costly but can improve brewing efficiency by 1-3%.

Secondly, the bottling line, the beer bottle sanitation area does not have water consumption meters, and the water consumption of workers is not controlled. The solution is simply to install water meters in this area and to assign the task of managing and using water economically and effectively for the manager of the shift. This is a low-cost but high-performance solution that has the potential to reduce the plant's water consumption from 300 to 500 cubic meters of water per day.

Thirdly, the factory is currently buying steam from outside. In the long run, if the plant turns to self-produce steam using a fluidized bed boiler, using rice husks, sawdust, the steam generated would be enough for production and even redundant to sell. This solution is high-cost but will bring long-term economic benefits to the plant.

The visit to Me Linh Brewery Plant ended, trainees gained useful knowledge on cleaner production consultation. In addition, the Me Linh Brewery Plant also received practical comments on further improvement of the production and management process.

Me Linh Brewery Plant under Hanoi Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Corporation (Habeco) was started construction on July 20, 2006 on an area of 264,880 m2 in Tien Phong commune, Me Linh district, Hanoi province. With a total investment of nearly VND 2,200 billion, this is one of the most modern and large scale breweries in Southeast Asia. The inauguration ceremony of Me Linh Brewery Plant was held on August 15, 2010.
