On April 13 and 14, the Ministry of Industry and Trade assigned the EPRO Consulting Joint Stock Company to organize the 5S training course in the framework of the project "Improving the productivity and quality of products and goods of the industry" in Ho Chi Minh City for the purpose of equipping information, knowledge of 5S; Exchange 5S deployment experience for businesses in the South.
The 5S training course took place over two days, attracting 40 trainees from 13 companies in the textile and garment, electronics, plastic, confectionery, animal feed and footwear industries in the area of Ho Chi Minh City and some neighboring provinces. At the training course, participants are not only provided theoretical knowledge on 5S good practice but also participated in some practical exercises, helping to quickly memorize the newly acquired theoretical knowledge.
As for theoretical knowledge, trainer introduced the contents, including: 5S concept, 5S implementation principles, and 5S implementation steps at the enterprise, helping students understand correctly good practice 5S and benefits when applying 5S at the enterprise. In addition, trainers shared their experiences in deploying and maintaining 5S at the plant and answered the participants' questions about the practical issues involved in deploying 5S at each plant. With questions asked, in addition to the trainer's advice, the trainees have the opportunity to exchange experiences to help develop ideas for solving the questions.
On the practical content, participants are divided into 7 groups and practice a case study to implement the first 2S- sort and set in order. In addition, after being instructed by the trainer about the content of the 5S deployment steps at the enterprise, 7 groups of participants conducted selection of an enterprise and presented the actual 5S deployment plan at that enterprise.
The post-training evaluation shows that the main ideas of the trainees are that the course content is good, especially the content of hands-on exercises and post-training hands-on instruction. In addition, some trainees expressed their expectation that the Ministry of Industry and Trade would increase the number of training courses as well as expand the number of trained trainees and more video on implementing 5S in enterprises.
After the training course, three enterprises have registered to receive 5S consultancy and implementation at the enterprise in 2017, including two textile and garment enterprises, namely Thanh Thuy Manufacturing and Trading Company Limited, Viet Thang Garment Joint Stock Company and a steel enterprise - Dong A Joint Stock Company. For these 3 enterprises, the consultants of the Ministry of Industry and Trade will directly come to the enterprise to train staff and guide 5S implementation and the trainees who participated in the training will be members of the 5S board in the enterprise, initially facilitating the successful implementation of 5S.
