Coal and Mineral Group of Vietnam always holds the motto of exploiting mineral resources in a sustainable manner, developing in parallel with protecting the ecological environment, enhancing the ability to adapt to climate change simultaneously towards improving the economic efficiency and competitiveness of enterprises.
The Group has issued internal mechanisms, organized a system of directing and managing the unified environmental protection from the Group to the member units; establishment of environmental consultancy and construction units as the core of environmental protection work of the Group; regularly provide environmental training to managers and environmental staff; cooperate with foreign countries (Germany, Korea, Japan) to study technology, train human resources development for environmental protection from the beginning.
In order to have capital for the implementation of environmental projects and works, the Group has set up a concentrated environmental fund equal to 1.0-1.5% of the production costs and at the same time allow the member units to spend directly 0.5% of production costs for regular environmental protection. The total direct cost of environmental protection of the Group is now over 1,000 billion VND / year, not including investment cost of technological innovation combined with environmental protection.
In order to reduce dust and noise pollution to the environment and population, the Group has invested in the construction of specialized transportation routes with a total length of over 130 km. Therefore, since 2008, the whole Group has terminated coal transportation on national highways and provincial roads; from 2013, only coal will be transported to the port by car during the day.
Alternative investment, technological innovation
The Group has invested in the modernization of coal export ports (Cua Ong, KM6, Khanh Village, Ben Can ...) in combination with investment in conveyor belts to replace coal transporting cars to ports (+56 Mien Khe port, Ben Thanh port, Mao Khe port, M9 Khe power plant, G9 depot, Mong Duong power plant, Khe Cham - G9 storage, US Lines - KM6 port ...). The transportation of coal to the port is now mainly carried out by conveyor and rail, thereby reducing the impact of coal transportation to the urban and residential areas.
In the past few years, the Group has promoted the application of mechanized and hydraulic exploitation technology in the exploitation of pit coal mines, thus reducing the anti-blast furnace consumption rate from 45 to 50 m3 / 1000 tons of coal to 14.1 m3 / 1000 tons; reduce the rate of natural resource loss from 45 - 50% to 24.2%; to invest in renovating modern open-cast mining equipment with a capacity of 10 m3, 100 tons of automobiles, electric cars, stone conveyors ... to increase productivity, save fuel, reduce emissions, reduce the rate of loss of natural resources from 15 - 18% down to 5.3%.
New high-capacity sludge filter and conveyor belts replacing coal-transporting vehicles to the port of the refinery helped increase the rate of mineral recovery, recycled water use, and reduced dust, noise and gas emissions waste.
In addition, thanks to a soft start system for quality upgrading equipment and stations and the construction of low-quality coal power plants, the Group has been able to recover coal and minerals low quality, thereby improving the efficiency of exploitation and use of resources, saving electricity costs.
Through efforts in the organization of production management and investment in modern equipment system, it can be seen that the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group is aiming to become a green manufacturing industry, harmonious development, friendly with the environment and community.
