South Korea’s enterprise wants to invest in a solar power park in Nghệ An province

At the meeting with the People's Committee of Nghệ An province, Nguyen Van Quang - General Director of Sunpower Company has proposed to invest in Solarpower Park in Rú Rím, Nghi Yên and Nghi Tien communes in Nghi Lộc district.

According to Sunpower General Director, the scale of this project is from 20 to 100 MW on an area of about 70-80 hectares. Estimated investment capital is from 25 to 150 million USD.

"If the project is approved, it could start in 2017 and be ready for use in 2020," the general director of Sunpower Company said.

In addition, the General Director of Sunpower Company also proposed the People's Committee of Nghệ An province to study options for accessing, surveying and participating in thermal power projects at Quynh Lap Power Center - Southeast Economic Zone of the province. Currently, the power projects in Quynh Lap have been delayed by investors, if agreed, KEPCO can participate in the implementation.

Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee of Nghe An province Nguyễn Xuân Đường highly valued the potential of KEPCO and Sunpower Company. Especially, the investment in the exploitation of solar or wind power is a sustainable direction.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghệ An province recommends investors to work closely with provincial agencies to conduct field surveys to decide on suitable options; At the same time, introduce KEPCO in some areas where the partner can invest.

On the wish of investors participating in the thermal power project in Quynh Lap (Hoang Mai Township), KEPCO and Sunpower Solar Company need to work concretely with related parties. The parties agree to the joint venture agreement will make contribution to put this project into operation soon.
