Hau Giang has proposed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to add to the planning two energy projects with the size of FDI capital over $ 4 billion.
According to Nguyen Huu Nghia, Director of Hau Giang Planning and Investment Department, the province is receiving investment registration for two energy projects: Jinko Solar Power Plant and Song Hau 3 Thermal Power Plant with a total capital of over $ 4 billion. These two projects are not yet in the planning, so the province has sent an official dispatch to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to propose adding the 2 projects in the planning. When it is added, Hau Giang will quickly carry out the next steps, granting investment registration certificates for investors to early implement the project.
The project of solar power plant is registered for investing by Jinko Solar International Development Co., Ltd. (Hong Kong) in Hoa An Commune, Phung Hiep District, Hau Giang Province with a total investment of VND1,168 billion VND (equal to $ 52.5 million). The factory has a designed capacity of 35MW with land area of 40ha and land lease of 50 years. The plant uses the technology to convert optical energy into electricity using energy panels (PV-Photovoltaic technology) for high conversion efficiency, reasonable investment cost and suitable with Vietnam climate.
The project of Song Hau 3 Thermal Power Plant is represented by Viet-Lao Power Investment and Development JSC for a group of investors including: Deo Ca Investment JSC, Viet-Lao Power Investment and Development JSC and Phongsubthavy Co., Ltd (headquartered in Vientiane, Laos). The total investment of the project is estimated at VND 81,000 billion (US $ 3.636 billion), located at Song Hau Electricity Center, Phu Huu A Commune, Chau Thanh District, Hau Giang Province. Design capacity of the plant is about 2,000 MW, operating hours at the capacity of about 6,500 hours per year; Annual output is 13 billion kWh per year.
At present, there are 29 FDI projects in Hau Giang province, with a total capital of 808.5 million USD. If these power plant projects are granted investment certificate, Hau Giang will rise to the second place to attract FDI in the Mekong Delta (after Long An province with FDI capital of over USD 6.7 billion).
