In recent years, Vietnam has made great efforts in the field of renewable energy, catching up with trends in the region and in the world.
In recent years, Vietnam has made great efforts in the field of renewable energy, catching up with trends in the region and in the world.
Opportunity of renewable energy
The program "Integration: Challenges and Opportunities" on July 5 broadcasting at 22h45 - 23h15 on VTV1 channel of the Vietnam Television has given specific view on the status of enhancing the development of renewable energy in Vietnam. The program is accompanied by the PetroVietnam Gas Corporation.
At present, the Southern Electricity Corporation is launching a new solar project in the Con Dao island, expected to be completed this year. The expected capacity is around 2.2 million kWh per year, meeting about one-sixth of the island's electricity needs, saving tens of billions of dong and reducing emissions to the environment.
The story of the solar-power model project in Con Dao is a vivid illustration of promoting renewable energy development in the most remote areas of the country. The construction of Con Dao power building with all its roofs installed with solar power systems, generating about 100kW, far exceeds the needs of the building, not only does not put pressure on the electricity demand of the Island, but also create more energy.
With great potential for renewable energy, especially solar and wind power, and government incentives, many experts say that the opportunities for renewable energies are opening up to many Vietnamese businesses. Currently, there are 77 large-scale, small-scale renewable energy projects registered for investment in Vietnam with total capacity up to 5000 MW. These projects have marked the participation and investment in clean energy and renewable energy of Vietnam.
Transition to a more sustainable energy policy
On June 21, Bruno Angelet, Ambassador of the European Union and Minister of Industry and Trade-Tran Tuan Anh, witnessed the launch of the Vietnam Energy Partnership Group. The event also highlighted the launch of a policy dialogue mechanism between the government and development partners to assist Vietnam in its transition to a more sustainable energy policy.
According to Tran Tuan Anh, the dialogue mechanism between Vietnam and its partners, like the EU and other organizations, will help us have the opportunity to study and gain practical experience. It’s precious to us not only in the formulation and planning of policies, but also in policy implementation both in the energy field and energy efficiency in the socioeconomic development process.
The cost of green energy production has fallen significantly so that Vietnam can choose the most successful and appropriate model, avoiding to use excessive tax of the payer. The most important thing is to state the role of the Government, to ensure that the poor continue to use electricity at affordable prices, and to build the right tax and market system. That is the content that the EU wants to support Vietnam.
With the growing of energy demand and the tightening of the environmental requirements, Vietnam needs to be more active in developing green and renewable energy. Integration playgrounds increasingly require high environmental standards, clean energy that we need to meet. However, the integration of playgrounds also means that there are always partners willing to support and help Vietnam in promoting the transition from "brown energy" to "green energy".
