Hanoi promotes science and technology development in industry

Science and technology (S & T) is the motivation to accelerate the pace and quality of sustainable economic - socio development of Hanoi. Being aware of this, Hanoi is actively promoting scientific and technological development, especially in the industrial sector.

In the implementation of the National Green Growth Strategy for the period 2011-2020 with a vision to 2050, Hanoi aims to achieve the targets as follows: the value of high-tech, green technology products in GRDP is about 42-45%, 100% of the new production and business facilities applies environmentally friendly technologies or equips waste treatment devices which meet environmental standards; over 80% of production facilities, the existing business environment standards, 100% of industrial zones, export processing zones and industrial clusters has centralized wastewater treatment systems which meet national technical standards and regulations by 2020.

In order to achieve the above targets, Hanoi has set out a number of key measures, including promoting scientific research and application of green technologies in industrial production.

According to the Director of the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology, Dr Le Xuan Rao, research schemes and projects in Hanoi focused primarily on research and application of new technologies, new products, environmental remediation, etc. In the last 5 years, the Hanoi Department of Science and technology has appraised 115 investment projects in the resource – environment sectors. There are large-scale investment projects with advanced technologies such as: Bac Thang Long - Van Tri wastewater treatment plant, the Yen So wastewater treatment plant with the capacity of 200.000m3/day; The investment project on waste treatment plant in Dong Ke (Chuong My district) using burning technology without power generation; Nam Son waste treatment project with the capacity of 2,000 tons/day…

On the other hand, Hanoi has opened a Center of Technology Research, Transfer and Verification with large scale in Vietnam, located in Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park, with a total investment of 600 billion VND. With modern research and production model, the Centre is expected to give birth to high-tech products to serve economic – socio development of the Capital.

The technology areas which have been studied, delivered and evaluated including: mechanical engineering technology, electronic technology - automation, energy-saving technologies and environmental technologies. One of the topics that the Center is to conduct focused research and production of solar cells with high efficiency, small size. Under the plan, the solar panels of the Center for National Grid to 2020.

The collaborative technology incubators, business incubators and fostering high-quality human resources for the capital is also special attention. Expected in 2016, the project technology exchange center often Xuan La Ward, Tay Ho District will be completed, including the area where the nursery technology supports the idea, the results of research needs to be done to form good patents, technology products have scientific and highly practical.

In the future, according to Director of the Hanoi’s Department of Science and Technology in Hanoi, Le Xuan Rao, Hanoi will focus on promoting the advantages of capital, especially the exploitation potential intellectuals, continue to improve the quality, efficiency S & T activities, contributing to the economic restructuring towards green growth, economic security - social capital rapid and sustainable development.
