Currently, under the pressure of economic growth, the electricity demand is increasing more and more. Meanwhile, energy supply from hydroelectric system is decreasing in capacity due to the negative impact of climate change.

An Giang province has a population of over 2.2 million people, which is the highest in Mekong Delta and the 6th highest in Vietnam, so the demand for waste treatment, clean water, clean energy and renewable energy is very high. Because of this, the development of renewable energy or clean energy has a vital significance, creating new opportunities for the industry in the province.

With the advantages of abundant natural energy resources, An Giang province is considered as having a lot of potentials to efficiently exploit solar energy to use for lighting, waste treatment, clean water processing,....

Seeing those benefits, in 2015, Koyo Corporation of Japan visited An Giang to explore investment opportunities in this sector. At the meeting, representatives of Koyo Corporation and a number of Japanese scientists have learned more other investment opportunities.

In the sector of clean water supply and water treatment, An Giang Electricity and Water Joint Stock Company requested Koyo Corporation to invest in the project that provides 70,000 m3 of clean water for people in the province and wastewater treatment systems with a capacity of 15,000 m3 / day in some local areas. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang offered a proposal to support the technology of agricultural waste treatment such as plastic bottles, crockery bottles,…

At the meeting, An Giang People’s Committee pledged to support Koyo Corporation to invest in this province to provide the products and services that are beneficial to people. Mr. Ho Viet Hiep, Vice Chairman of An Giang People’s Committee emphasized: An Giang province pays special attention to the investment in clean energy development.

An Giang has the advantage of using solar power, so in the near future, besides expanding the opportunities for cooperation in the sector of solar energy, the province will be concerned about the treatment of clean water, wastes and some other agricultural products.

In 2015, one of the highlights that mark the beginning development of clean energy in An Giang province is that Sao Mai Group has signed a business cooperation agreement in clean energy sector with Koyo Corporation.

In order to serve markets in Vietnam and export, Koyo Corporation will install generator systems using solar panel for Sao Mai’s factories in Vam Cong industrial cluster with a capacity of 10,500 kW. Accordingly, Koyo Corporation will continue to provide Sao Mai Group with smart outdoor lighting systems, solar energy installations in all urban projects of Sao Mai, energy-saving LED lighting systems in offices and factories of the Group.

At the present time, many products and services of Koyo Corporation are quite consistent with the needs of An Giang province. Therefore, in the context of Vietnam being the official member of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), the signing of cooperation between An Giang enterprises and Koyo Corporation will open up collaboration opportunities between An Giang province and Japan in the future.
