Ninh Thuan needs to promote potential of renewable energy

Energy is a fundamental for development of any production activities and human activities. Energy consumption more and more increase while fossil fuel resource dwindling. That is the motivation to development of green energy. Recently, at the meeting with the leaders of Ninh Thuan province, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh – Head of the Central Economic Committee confirmed the importance of development and promotion clean energy in the province, especially in period of 2015 – 2020.

Recently, at the meeting with the leaders of Ninh Thuan province, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh – Head of the Central Economic Committee confirmed the importance of development and promotion clean energy in the province, especially in period of 2015 – 2020.
Energy sources such as hydropower and thermal power have been exploited alot, but the pressure to ensure energy security serving the growing demand for social and economic development. In this context, the development of wind energy and solar energy in Binh Thuan province, the most renewable potential province in the country is the right way to ensure efficient energy use, protection of environment and development green energy and promotion of sustainable development.
The advantage of Ninh Thuan in development of renewable energy is huge, especially for development of wind power and solar power. Ninh Thuan has 14 potential wind areas with total area about 8000 centralizing in less storm zones (3 districts of Ninh Phuoc, Thuan Nam and Thuan Bac), wind blows with the highest speeds nationwide, average 7.1m/s, wind density is from 400- 500W/m2 or more, the highest wind density in the southern region. Besides, Ninh Thuan also is the most potential province of solar energy development with highest solar energy nationwide due to large solar, long time lighting, amount of solar radiation received in large and evenly all year. The average lightning time between 2600-2800 hours/year.
However, in Ninh Thuan, there are only 3 renewable projects that have been started constructing such as Cong Hai, Trung Nam and Mui Dinh wind power plants. The projects are deployed late as planned defining the investment certificates. The root reasons of that situation: Ninh Thuan has not specific policy and consistency in the development of renewable energy and electricity prices is irrational and not gain consensus from investors.
To encourage Ninh Thuan in development of potential renewable energy, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh recommend Ministry of Industry and Trade and leaders of Ninh Thuan province development of pilot project on evaluation of wind and solar power soon and submit to Government for approval. The policies are not only play as an guideline for development of renewable energy in the province but contribute to encourage and attract investors and to bring the registered projects into operation, contributing to solve the problem of energy security for the country.
