Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomed the newly-appointed French Ambassador Bertrand Lortholary on his courtesy call at the headquarters of the Government on November 24.

French Ambassador Bertrand Lortholary said during his tenure he will promote cooperation projects between the two sides. In particular, France is also committed to doubling funding for the projects to respond to climate change in Vietnam and strongly supporting French enterprises to cooperate with Vietnam in the field of environment, waste and wastewatertreatment.

It is known that earlier, France has always been a great support for Vietnam in the fight against climate change. The latest mark for this cooperation is the signing of a credit agreement documentin mid-2016, under which Vietnam will borrow 20 million euros from France for Stage 5 of "Support Programme to Respond to Climate Change"(SP-RCC). The program aims to support the Government of Vietnam in sector reform to effectivelycombat climate change, while encouraging the development of low carbon emissions.
