Thai Nguyen has over 12 thousand establishments producing handicrafts and village, every year to create jobs for approximately 22,095 regular employees and a large part of agricultural labor after harvest. In 2015, the production value of handicrafts and village areas reached 6.500 billion, an increase of more than 2,400 billion compared with 2011.

In fact, producing handicrafts and village has contributed in promoting local economic development.
In 2011-2015, the sector of Industry and Trade has implemented 163 projects under the industrial promotion program with a budget of 26.5 billion VND support. Including 15 national industrial promotion projects with funding of 6 billion and 148 local industrial promotion projects with funding of 20.5 billion VND.

Along with that, the sector of Industry and Trade in collaboration with all levels and sectors concerned vocational training for rural laborers 2600 no job at the request of the industrial production base; support the development of technical demonstration and application of technology transfer, new techniques for 98 establishments; support detailed planning for 5 industrial clusters; support building the village entrance and celebrated Degree provincial recognition for 162 villages, traditional villages. Since then the facility has encouraged investment technology innovation, create new products supplied to the domestic value and export value-added production craft, increase the income of workers and contribute to maintaining stability the society, ensuring social security in rural areas.

The reality of the past year shows, the production facilities and manufacturing handicraft in the villages were paying more attention to the application of machinery and equipment to produce, artisanal industrial scrap and waste materials available locally, creating new products provide the domestic market and exports such as adobe brick production; hydraulically pressed sawdust instead of coal; casting metal product details with intermediate frequency furnace high performance and modern technology processing, preservation tea products, plywood, etc. However, generally producing handicrafts in the province is still fragmented, the small production base, production is mostly handmade, lack of investment capital, the competitiveness of products is not high. Thus, for the production of handicrafts and village sustainable development, Do Thi Hiep, Xinxiang of cooperative Tea (Xuan Phuc, Thai Nguyen) said that, firstly, all levels and branches of provincial functions needed to quickly implement measures to improve the competitiveness of products in the field handicraft, craft villages, including tea products.

In our opinion, the solution to enhance the competitiveness of the products at all levels and functional agencies should immediately implement in the near future is the research and planning of industrial clusters consistent with the practical needs manufacturing; build and expand the scale of processing facilities in areas with favorable conditions for raw materials. Besides being focused on accelerating some potential industries such as tea processing, agricultural food production and building materials development; promoting vocational training by concentrating on the job have a stable consumer market; strengthen the construction and promotion of key products, etc. Especially, the province should focus on investing in infrastructure for villages and villages technology is new, as roads in the village, dragging the grid for production, support equipment and machines for the production facilities and the village handicraft.
