Energy use situation
Currently, Viet Thang Corporation - CTCP consumes electric power, diesel and water, Electricity which is the main source of energy is provided by the Vietnam Electricity through 8 electrical substations whose total capacity is 19,190 kVA at 22kV voltage level. Meanwhile, diesel is used for boilers and generators and water is used for daily living activities and cooling.
Energy efficiency potential
According to energy audit results, Viet Thang Corporation - JSC has huge energy efficiency potential. If the company carries out proposed energy efficiency solutions, it will reduce 9,128 MWh of electricity and 689 tons of coal per year, equivalent to VND16.2 billion.
Particular energy efficiency solutions
16 energy solutions are found during energy audit period including pump system improvement, steam system improvement.
Solution No. 1: Replace belt drive with coaxial transmission for central dust collection system
Real situation Centrifugal fans have actuators with belt which is easy to be made, cheap and simple to operate. However, in the operation process, electricity consumption of fan will be loss by belt’s friction and belt slack. | Expected output Replacing Belt Drive With Coaxial Drive results in reduction of investment cost in engine and energy consumption. |
Energy efficiency results
Electricity savings: 498,960 kWh/year | Investment cost: VND1.8 billion |
Cost savings: VND831 million | Payback period: 2.2 years |
Solution No. 2: Insulate steam valves, steam pipes, feed water pipe, condensate pipe
Real situation Steam valves, steam pipes, feed water pipes and condensate pipes have not been insulated yet leading to significant heat losses to the environment. | Expected output Insulting surfaces whose temperature is higher than 600C or using insulating jacket surfaces that require flexibility avoids heat losses and create good working conditions for employees. |
Energy efficiency results
Coal savings: 60 tons/ year | Investment cost: VND15 million |
Cost savings: VND84 million / year | Payback period: 0.2 year |
Solution No. 3: Re-install the air preheater of boiler
Real situation Air preheater is installed incorrectly compared to the design, resulting in reduce efficiency. | Expected output Re-installing the air preheater helps maximizing the heat exchange capacity between input air and outlet flue gas. |
Energy efficiency results
Coal savings: 57 tons/ year | Investment cost depends on the agreement between the company and the equipment supplier |
Cost savings: VND80 million / year | Payback period depends on the investment cost |
Viet Thang Corporation - JSC is one of 10 enterprises entitled to energy audit implementation within the framework of the Project for Promoting Investment Market for Energy Efficiency in Industrial Sector in Vietnam, funded by the Korean Government through Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The energy audit was conducted by the Energy Conservation Research and Development Center (ENERTEAM) in cooperation with Korean energy experts from November 1, 2018 to November 11, 2018. |
