Training to Improve Skills for Cleaner Production Assessment at Industrial Production Facilities

The annual training program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade has improved cleaner production practices for more than 300 industry and trade officials in 63 provinces.
In the framework of capacity building for local industry advisory and management units, on May 9th 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Trade opened a training program to improve skills in practical assessment of cleaner production at industrial facilities in Ho Chi Minh City. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang, Deputy Director of the Department for Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development, said that the annual training program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade had improved the capacity of 300 staff of industry and trade in 63 provinces and cities in assessment of cleaner production.

The training program to improve cleaner production practices for industrial production facilities in 2018 was held for 30 trainees from the Department of Industry and Trade, Industry Promotion Center, Energy Saving Center and Cleaner production and consulting units from 16 provinces and cities nationwide. The program consisted of two rounds of intensive training; the first one last for three days of classroom training to review knowledge and provide skills for cleaner production assessment and the second phase focuses on advanced training which is planned to take place in October. Between the two trainings, the trainees will implement the practice of cleaner production assessment in the locality.
At the training course, the trainees are equipped with skills and techniquesfor observation, interviews, data evaluation as well as report writing to quickly identify the efficiency of water; fuel and electricity used in industrial production enterprises. This is the basis for the local authorities to integrate their support activities in technology, trade promotion, green branding for enterprises, towards sustainable development.
The cleaner production strategy in industry by 2020 sets a target of 90% of Provincial Departments of Industry and Trade to have an instructor who can guide the enterprises to undertake the cleaner production. In the period 2010-2015, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized the annual basic training courses on Cleaner Production. From 2015, the training program on improving the practice of cleaner production assessment continued to be held annually for the units that needed to deploy their cleaner production assessment plans in the locality. By the end of 2017, 49 provinces and cities sent their industry and trade officers to be trained in cleaner production assessment. |
