Quan Chau Joint Stock Company has actively participated in CP demonstration project of the Cleaner Production in Industry since 2008.
Established in 2006, Quan Chau JSC., specializes in producing PP plastic bags to meet the need of the domestic market.
With Quan Chau Company, the main pollution sources from the production process are wastewater, air emissions. On average, everyday the Company discharged 50 m3 wastewater from the bag cleaning process to the environment. Pollutant concentrations in the effluent are higher than permissible standard. Air emission is generated mainly in the heating of plastic to form grains. The emissions include CO, NO2, SO2 that causes bad smell and discomfort and problem to workers, hence reduce working efficiency.
Realizing the need for CP application in order to improve production efficiency and solve environmental problems, the Company has actively participated in CP demonstration project of the Cleaner Production in Industry since 2008.
A CP team was established with 17 members with the assignments of review and identification of obstacles, solutions for energy and resources efficiency. The team has cooperated with CP expert to assess the whole production line, which is the process consuming much raw materials and energy, and at the same time, having potential risks of environmental pollution. If the line was improved, the Company could have much economic benefits as well as reduce environmental pollution.
The Team had proposed 22 CP solutions, in which, 18 were applied and brought the below benefits:

Besides, with the support of the CPI, the Company has invested and brought into operation a wastewater treatment system with capacity of 100 m3/day. The investment was VND ... billions and ensures the wastewater quality is under the limits of environmental standard. At the present, the Company has signed contract with Quang Nam Centre for Science Application and Technology Transfer to design, construct and install the exhaust gas treatment system. In 3rd Quarter of 2009, the system came into operation and solves completely environmental issues of the company./.
