According to the representative of Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade, due to the stable human resources, highly qualified technicians and sufficient machines and equipment for the measurement work, etc., technical consulting, energy saving activities have been implemented well. 

Particularly, cleaner production is considered as a highlight of Da Nang industrial promotion sector in recent years. The Center for Industrial Promotion and Development Consultancy of Danang city took advantage of the support from the Cleaner production component in the industry to carry out activities such as organizing two inception workshops and five training courses for technician in the sectors of fisheries, textiles, construction materials, etc. Thereby, screened and proposed the program to support rapid assessment for 10 units.

In 2016, this unit also collaborated with Quang Ngai Industrial Promotion and Development Consultancy to conduct cleaner production assessment for 3 enterprises, including Tan Tien JSC, Minh Anh Foods Co., Ltd And Thanh Hung paper production enterprise.

According to the initial results, although the support for cleaner promotion was limited to consultancy activities, it was supported by enterprises. Notably, some low-cost solutions have yielded good results.

However, through the implementation, the center also encountered some obstacles to be solved. In particular, because there is no assessment of the achievement of the "Cleaner Production Strategy in Industry to 2020", there is no development orientation for the next period, have not called for foreign investment in cleaner production yet; Integration with other programs is also limited.

Many businesses believe that cleaner production is only related to environmental sanitation, so they do not care. Manufacturing enterprises tend to focus on sales rather than investment in new technologies and equipment to reduce production costs. Particularly for small and medium enterprises, the cost of investing in technology is often larger than their ability to invest, and the payback period is so long, so it is difficult for enterprises to apply this solution.

To overcome these obstacles, the representative of Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade said that there should be a thorough orientation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade to the localities in continuing efforts to implement solutions such as: Awareness raising for enterprises on cleaner production; Replication of successful models; Develop technical guidelines for each sector, etc. In particular, localities allocate funds appropriately and have mechanisms to support enterprises to apply cleaner production solutions.

In addition to the pilot implementation of CP support, Da Nang has also implemented other aspects of the promotion program. In particular, the implementation of projects to support enterprises, production facilities in investing new technology is a top priority.

In the first 6 months, the industrial plan of the Da Nang industrial promotion sector has been approved with the total cost of 2.2 billion VND for 24 projects. Currently, two projects supporting the application of machinery and equipment in the production of industrial plywood and the production of inoxidable steel door locks are completed and in the period of trial running, expected to come into operation in the third quarter of 2017.
