Dong Thap issues implementation plan on Cleaner Production to 2020

On 14th March 2016, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province issued “Strategy for cleaner production in industry in Dong Thap province for the period from 2016 to 2020".
On 14th March 2016, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province issued “Strategy for cleaner production in industry in Dong Thap province for the period from 2016 to 2020".
The plan targets to 2020 are: 90% of industrial production facilities with potential of cleaner production application in the province is equipped with information and knowledge on the benefits of adopting cleaner production measures in the industry; 50% of industrial production facilities which has the potential to apply cleaner production can save from 8 -13% of energy consumption, material consumption per product; 100% of the officials who takes charge of cleaner production at all levels and sectors of the province is trained and qualified to give advice and technical support to industrial manufacturing facilities to apply cleaner production.
To accomplish the above targets, the planned 05 measures, which are: to raise awareness and capacity to apply cleaner production in industry; construction and operation of databases and electronic information on cleaner production in industry; technical assistance on the application of cleaner production in the industrial production base; building and maintaining a network of organizations to support cleaner production in industry; develop guidelines and provincial policy on cleaner production.
Striving to advance industrial production in the province reach the common goal of "Strategy for Cleaner Production in Industry 2020". Production activities have focused on efficient use of raw materials and energy inputs; reduce emissions and limit the level of output increased pollution; protect and improve environmental quality, human health and ensure sustainable development.
From the achievements in organization and implementation of energy conservation activities, from 2006 to date, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Dong Thap Center of Industrial Promotion and Development Consultancy has been honored with many of Merits of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Provincial People's Committee. As reflected by Mr. Nhi Van Khai - Director of Department of Industry and Trade, during the past years, thanks to extensive communication and deployment of outstanding activities on energy efficiency and cleaner production, so far most of companies in Dong Thap province are aware of the benefits of these activities. Therefore, almost 100% of the key energy users performed the energy audit as prescribed; a number of units among them took initiative in their second round of energy audit. Besides, the other units which were not subjected to mandatory energy audits also performed energy audit at their own discretion (supported with 50% of cost) to seek opportunities in energy efficiency and production cost reduction. In review of proposed solutions, many companies have applied the measures at their own discretion to save 30-40% of energy consumption, thus reducing the environmental pollution.
Collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry plans to implement cleaner production in the industrial period 2016-2020 in the province also has the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Planning and Investment and Economic Management Unit, Department of information and Communications, and other related units In the course of implementation, if any difficulties arise, the agencies and units promptly to the Department of Industry and Trade to address within its jurisdiction. or report, staff of the PPC decides.
