The Khanh Hoa Tea Company is located on tea material area of Ha Hoa District, Phu Tho Province. Therefore, in recent years, the company’s production has been increasing. Like many other companies operating in the area, cleaner production potential of the company was huge. Plants and industrial production facilities in the area had not taken full advantage of capacity to provide high-quality products to the market. In addition, backward technology and undeveloped infrastructure were main reasons, causing the loss of raw materials in the production process and increasing pollution emissions into the environment. In 2009, together with the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s support, the company implemented cleaner production solutions at its manufacturing plants.
The company has implemented more than 20 cleaner production solutions, such as training workers in terms of furnace operation, insulating pipes from loss of heat and reducing impurities from coal. With total investment capital of VND155 million into cleaner production, the company can earn VND490 million each year due to a decline in the loss of raw materials.
Recognizing these benefits in the implementation of cleaner production solutions, the company has actively applied specific measures to absolutely resolve environmental issues. The company invested VND7.6 billion in machinery and equipment to improve the product quality and reduce gas emissions into the environment.
