According to Hanoi’s Department of Industry and Trade, the city has accomplished 60 percent of the yearly plan for cleaner production (CP) in the first half of the year.
Seeing the role of the media in raising awareness of CP activities in the city, Hanoi strived to diversify the CP propaganda in form including organization of conference and training and publication of brochures and reports during the first half of the year. Generally, Hanoi released 3,000 brochures introducing the basic and effective CP knowledge to local production facilities. In addition, the city also launched three reports on the results of the implementation of the CP action program at industrial manufacturing facilities, which was later broadcast on Hanoi’s television channel; it held two workshops introducing CP models and related benefits to more than 200 participants including production and technical managers of manufacturing facilities across the city.
Along with CP propaganda activities, Hanoi’s Department of Industry and Trade also conducted investigations and surveys of CP implementation in industrial parks around the city, and chose Quang Minh Industrial Park as an example of CP technical support, evaluation and application.
In addition, two production facilities in Quang Minh Industrial Park experienced rapid CP evaluation and consultancy on technological innovation to better control the production process.
Hanoi is home to many craft villages; therefore, it must bear negative impact on the environment along with economic benefits bought about by these villages during production expansion. Seeing that, the city decided to intensively support enterprises in these villages in terms of CP.
Hanoi’s Department of Industry and Trade has conducted investigations and surveys on CP situation in craft villages across the city, and chose the traditional pottery village of Kim Lan for technical assistance, evaluation and proposed solutions for CP. In addition, the ceramic manufacturing facility of Thanh Binh, one of the companies in Kim Lan Village, has been actively deployed CP solutions, proving one of the CP pilot models for other facilities to follow.
In addition, Hanoi’s Department of Industry and Trade has also offered CP evaluation and consultancy for four other industrial manufacturing facilities, with focus on internal management, manufacturing control, and technological innovation.
According to Deputy Director of Hanoi’s Energy Efficiency Center Nguyen Minh An, to further improve the implementation of CP solutions in Hanoi, from now until the end of the year, Hanoi will enhance the CP propagation and awareness among manufacturing enterprises and strive to convince them to use the equipment of advanced technology./.
