From October 30 to November 2, 20118, at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the British Council in Vietnam organized the Vietnam - UK researcher link workshop for the second time whose title was "Green electrochemical and materials processing for environment and energy challenges".

The workshop attracted participation of representatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology and 40 Vietnamese researchers and scientists from many leading research institutions in the UK such as Newcastle University, University of Manchester, Queen Mary University of London, University of London, UCL (University College London), University of Edinburgh, University of Bath, University of Glasgow, University of Portsmouth.
Speaking at the workshop, Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Tung, School of Chemical Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that the workshop was a forum for information exchange, scientific result spreading and international project preparation. Besides, the workshop also connected scientists of the two countries with enterprises in order to form effective innovation cooperation.
"The workshop is an opportunity to bring new technologies such as wastewater treatment technology, green energy technology, energy storage technology such as battery, supercapacitor or specific technologies of the UK like ocean wave energy and environmental monitoring technology to Vietnam", said Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Tung.
At the workshop, Vietnamese and UK scientists discussed two issues namely green electrochemical for environmental treatment solutions and materials processing for environmental and energy challenges.
Scientists also visited the beer production line and learned about the wastewater treatment process at the Ha Long Bear and Beverage JSC, which was a part of the workshop.
